The low carbon expert hub

How can analysis and the choice of low carbon solutions in the building sector be pooled?

The low carbon construction and renovation competition has been launched! With the new Environmental Regulation (RE 2020) that will supersede the Thermal Regulation of 2012 (RT 2012), building and renovating using low carbon solutions is now the only way you can be sure of…being able to build and renovate. In order to support building experts (commissioning managers, engineers, construction companies) in developing low carbon solutions, IFPEB (the French institute for building performance), and Carbon 4 have created a Hub for low carbon experts.

This collaborative platform gives participants access to a series of tools, targeted services and information by ISO-functional material family. It also ensures training for operational managers and enables the exchange of analyses and lessons learnt.

The platform’s announced objective is to create an expert community equipped with useful operational toolsestablish a low carbon culture in the sector and inform the sector about optimal carbon/cost levels.

There are already two tools accessible to platform participants:

  • baseline analysis from E+C-: How are effective buildings created today?
  • material analysis tool: What materials should you select in order to lower your carbon footprint while limiting extra costs?

An initial concept note providing a situational analysis of knowledge/information on low carbon solutions in the building sector was published in December 2020.

The annual cost of participating in the Hub is between €8,000 and €12,000 for project owners (cost linked to turnover), €2,000 for prime contractors. Please contact us for detailed information about the work of the low carbon expert hub.

The low carbon expert hub now has twelve participants, who run and coordinate the platform: Bouygues Immobilier, Bouygues Construction, BNP Paribas Real Estate, Groupama Immobilier, Poste Immo, Rabot Dutilleul, Covivio, Sogeprom, Vinci Immobilier and Icade. Altarea and Linkcity have recently joined the adventure, which is constantly developing and mobilising participants.
